Title: History Mystery
Post by: 2Nutz on June 11, 2009, 09:04:00 AM
History Mystery

Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born
in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford'.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe
WHO FIGURED THIS OUT?

This has been floating around for close to thirty years and I'm sorry to say that it's mostly urban myth.

At no time did Lincoln have a secretary named Kennedy. Neither were either men that concerned with civil rights. Google Lincoln's speeches if you don't agree. He was in favor of letting slavery exist in the South and allowing it to continue through a constitutional amendment to guarantee it. He wanted to send blacks back to Africa and was on record as saying blacks were not as smart as whites. He believed that whites and blacks should not marry or be equal in any way shape or form.

Until....

It became convienent for him and his war time goals. Sorry guys, read the Emancipation Proclamation, you'll see it didn't free a single slave. Slavery was only abolished after the passage of the 13th amendment in 1866.

Kennedy had no civil rights policy. He was able to desegregate the Universities of Alabama and Mississppi, but his hometown of Boston continued to segregate its' public schools until 1977. Look it up if you don't believe me.

It took Lyndon Johnson to bring the first large scale civil rights changes in the South, but they would forget about the rest of the country, throughtout the 60's and into the 70's.

Martin Luther King is on record for saying he most feared for his life when he was in Chicago. Look it up.

Did Lee Harvey Oswald really kill JFK? Maybe, but it's FAR from conclusive evidence wise.

Abraham Lincoln destroyed what the founders of this country intended. The desire of a small central government kept in check by the states was replaced with a strong federal government that cost lives and suffereing in untold numbers. The supporters of Lincoln's cult feel if they say slavery enough times or loud enough it will make the damage done by Lincoln somehow respectable. It doesn't.

JFK bought his way into the White House with his fathers bootleg money and mafia conections and came within a gnats eyelash of starting WWIII. It was HIS fault that Kruschev put those missles in Cuba. He showed himself as a weak leader and that weakness almost ended all of our lives.

Despite what Oliver Stone says Kennedy was not going to pull all the troops out of Vietnam. Bobby Kennedy told the world that Johnson was only following JFK's plans when he started the big build up in 1965. Look it up.

I don't mean to be a jerk about this but I'm tired of people turning Kennedy and Lincoln into saint's. They were self serving and cared only about the power they could wield over others.

The world is not a better place because of them.

Has there ever been a good politician?
I think Bo's statement sums them all up.

And Lee Harvey was the fall guy.
