Title: Yes he lives
Post by: SwietsRick on October 17, 2009, 04:44:24 AM
I just wanted to stop by and check in with everybody and apologize for not being by much and reintroduce myself. Life has thrown myself and the Wild Extremes TV , staff and crew a few hard knocks this season; but we shall over come them. I for one lost the sight in my right eye and had to have a corneal transplant and am dealing with that. Hope everyone here is doing great and their season is going well. After over a year of dealing with the eye, Doc has finally agreed to let me hunt again next week...... Hopefully I'll have a few one-eyed tales to tell you all. "God Bless" you all and remember you don't miss what you have till it's gone.....be safe my friends O0

Hey, it's sure great to see ya back, Rick!  O0

That's sure sad news about your eye, but it's great news you are on the mend. You have a bandage over one eye and still hunting, huh? That sure can't be easy. I hope it's not your shooting eye that's messed up.

Welcome back Rick!  O0

No offense, but I liked you other avatar better. ^-^ ;D ;D

So what was the deal with the eye?  Medical reasons or did you hurt it some way?  Bummer if that was your shooting eye.

But, look on the bright side of things, at least you're still kicking and you still have your left eye to enjoy the wonders that God has given us. O0

Don't be such a stranger around here.  We need others with just as warped sense of humor as the rest of us have. O0

Thanks everyone, yes it was an accident that caused theproblen and no not my shooting eye however. I'm a leftie for compound but a rightie for Trad shooting.  It does effect my depth perception and at dusk makes for hard viewing. If you ever want to see what it's like just wear a pirates patch over your non-dominat eye and try shooting. So take care of what "God" gave you it's a bitch when you loose it. Doc has great hopes that all will heal in time; however patience isn't one of my better virtues. After over a year it's getting on my nerves but still feel blessed for what I do have. Besides if I miss a Big Buck I can always blame it on the eye...... :crazy2

Thanks again for the kind words and Monday looks like the first day I'll be out. update to come.....

How is your eye doing, Rick?

Hey guys and gals sorry I've not replied earlier than this. The eye s doing OK still problem with depth peception and adjusting to the dusk light but will survive. As for what happened to it? I had a pice of metal hit me in the right eye and did not seek a Doctor and an infection set in and a bacterial growth developed that ate away at the cornea. Hence if you have an injury seek medical help wether you think you need it or not. The transplant appears that it will eventually repair the eye back to normal accept for one small problem. Every time I see a young boy I seem to stare a little longer than usual? I sure hope that wasn't Micheal Jackson's cornea they gave me...LOL Anyhoo "God" will do what needs to be done and if it is not to be so be it. I still feel blessed to have the health I've had all these years and still share. Thanks for the concern and I'll try and stop by once in a while and check in on everybody.
