Pi, welcome to the gang! Just follow your nose to camp. That funny smell is the sasquatches, not my famous camp stew. They have been extra smelly lately because of the rain.
I don't know where you will find any crawdad holes in SoCal, but there are some mighty cute chicks there. At least there was the last time I was there.  :)

Chicks, you would not believe, anyway I found out no limit on mudbugs in California. I'll throw a trap in later, and let you know how I do.

My inlaws used to have a commercial sandpit across the rural road from where they lived. The water was crystal clear with little vegetation.
Around the edge were several large truck tires that always held a quantity of big crawdads.
While we visited my inlaws, we pulled the tires out of the water and scooped out the huge crawdads and returned the tires to the water.
We had some great crawdad boils.  :)

A lot of easy to come by live bait we take for granted here in the Midwest, like crawdads, is hard to come by in states like CA and AZ.

I go to Havasu during Spring Break, to fish. You should be there and try to fish with all the nearly nekked college chicks getting in the way.  It's downright trying while trying to fish with all the ruckus and distractions!  Sodden topless chicks stopping at our boat and passing us cold beer and pestering us while we try to concentrate on catching fish. It's downright shameful!
Seriously, you will never see a better bunch of folks. Believe it or not, they the best behaved bunch ever, even though they are partying and playing loud music. No fights, hassles, etc.
We do witness the patrolling officers busting a few drunks operating boats but the majority of the few we see getting arrested are older than the college kids. The rangers told us the worst offenders are the underage 17 year old kids.
The town of Lake Havsu City depends on the Spring break crowd for income. Those kids spend a LOT of money while there.  O0

I keep telling my brother we should at least untie the boat from the party shore and at least go wet a line.   ;D
