I took this buck on Sat morning about 10:15. Last week when I was at the club, I found that a buck had been scraping along the edge of a big cotton field that is in the middle of our club. I called my Brother and My son and asked them if they were going to hunt on Sat. My son said he was going to the FL Gators game and my Brother said that he had a cold and couldnt go. Dad went by and picked up my Brother's boy and came by and picked me up and away we went. When we got there I didnt feel like walking all the way back to where I wanted to hunt, So I went and sat on the edge of the scrape line in a big house stand overlooking the cotton field. About 10 am my phone started virbrating and I looked down and my dad was calling. He was down in the swamp and he didnt have a good signal so I could'nt hear him.He saw this buck and was tryin to let me know it was coming my way. I looked up and at 300 yards this boy walked around a point on the edge of the field. Since I killed that spike 2 weeks ago I knew he had to have at least 4 pts on one side. I watched him come around the edge of the field and freshen up every scrape. When he got to 50 yards, I waited until he got busy with the scrape, and I let the 270 go. He ran about 30 yards and piled up. Now all I can shoot is slick heads the rest of the season until I go to Alabama in Jan. Might put a Doe or 2 in the freezer!!!

Congrats J-Bucks!!!  O0   You got any other pictures of the beast?  Can't tell a whole lot about the rack in that one.  Looks to be about a 8-10 pt.  Not very wide, but it looks pretty tall.

Should be some good eatin'  ;)

Yea, he is a Main frame 8 with a couple stickers coming off the Brow tines. It is the only picture I have right now, but I will get a better one for ya. Mom always takes pictures of every deer I bring home so I am hoping she got a couple that are good.

Now you can use your remaining ten tags to lower the doe population! ;D  O0

What county down there do you hunt in?

Brooks County. The thing about where I hunt is, I more Bucks than Does. I'll get 5 buck pictures for every Doe Picture I get. I Ain't hurting the population any by taking out a few bucks every year.

Brooks county has some good hunting. I hunted there a few times back in the late 70's and early 80's when I was going to college in Florida. Good friend of mine shot one next door in Thomas county back in the mid 90's that scored about 165. It was a nice typical rack

Another friend shot one out of a peanut field in Colquitt county that dressed out 230 pounds. I shot one in Worth county back in 1982 that was a 6 point and was aged at less than two years of age, but he weighed about 200 dressed out. He had some serious marble on him too.

The great thing about the southern part of the state is all the different type of terrain you have. Swamps and pine tree farms and pea and peanut and corn fields.
