Title: Something different
Post by: 12 Ring on February 02, 2007, 12:19:53 PM
OK most of you folks saw the photos of the big buck I shot this year and my question is that I have a lot of deer mounted already and I would really like to have this one mounted really different that would show off his rack. I just don't want the standard half sneak or upright head turned mount. If you could post some photos here I would really appreciate it.

How does giraffe taste?  Also, the way the thing is setting, it looks like a gigantic paper weight! ;D

Hey 12 Ring, why don't you dealve into the area of full body mounts?  Lots of different things can be done then.

You could also do somewhat of a standard mount with a buck, and then have a doe licking/nuzzling him. O0

they have a mount where the head front shoulders and legs look like its running out of your wall.kinda of a looks like it's running at you.A freind of mine has one with and apple hanging infront of it like it's eating it. Have seen them with there nose kinda rolled back like when there sent checking a doe.or with the neck bent like there licking there shoulder.I have one to pick up soon that is a shoulder mount with a small tree infront of it rubbed up with his horns around it like he was rubbing it I will get a picture of it as soon as i can.

Hey 12 Ring, I saw  a caribou that was a shoulder mount and it was on a 3 point driff wood, that the caribou  could turn 360 degree on. It was some how on a pole rod ,was cool to see, also it was finish in the back too.You can  move the whole thing anywhere you want to.

sonds great, but you are gonna need a BIG room to have it in your livingroom!  I took a huge coyote to my taxidermist and he skinned it and sent the hide away to have it tanned. He was going to make it into a full body mount.
Just when he got the hide back, the place I worked at folded up, so I had to call him and tell him the deal was off. I paid him for his efforts and brought the beautiful hide home. Shortly after that, the hair came off in big patches and the hide fell apart.   :'(  >:(  It seems like the place he sent the hide used a new process that ruined the hide, no fault of the taxidermist. He was the best taxi for many miles with a reputation without a blemish, so I just licked my wounds and told him to forget the whole thing and keep the money.
He had done a fish and also my bear rug, first class work. He told me he was glad my bear hide was done by the old method. I told him I was glad, too!

sorry I dont have a picture but I saw a mount at the last show I went to that was very cool, instead of it deer being mounted on a typical shoulder mount it was mounter on a corner mount and had its head turned around so in looked like it was looking over its shoulder , being mounted in the corner of the room it offered a great view from both sides

I've seen a corner mount too.  I really liked it.  I'm having a half sneek facing left.  Mike has a 6 x 6 mule deer doing a half sneek facing right.  Then the 6 x 6 elk is in the middle.  It should look pretty good when it is all setup.

Will do!  Have to wait until this fall until my mount will be done.  I almost forgot what the big buck looked like.

I'm sure that when you walk back in the shop to pick it up your memory will come right back.. I just hope that they do a better job on yours than  This guy did on mine..
