Stingers are nice. They run about 1640f/s and 191ft/lbs of energy. That's better than the velocitors for sure. You might wanna look at the Aguila Super Maximums too. They run a bit more than the stingers and around half the price. O0

The aguila super max runs up about 1750 fps and is the next thing below the mighty 22 WMR but i kill lots of coons with the subsonic shorts why do you need all the noise of the screamers :)

If you would stop tresspassing you might not have to worry about being soo loud  :tickedoff

the reason we use the shorts is because around here in deer season everyone freaks out about you hunting on their land afraid you might scare off their deer so we have to hunt on alot of government land that backs up to private and that just keeps alot of people off of our backs even though we are hunting on public land they want to come and jump on you like they own it and me being such a NICE guy  i just find it easier to get in get and get out as quickly and quitely as possible good hunting to all yall

I always liked .22 Mags and .22 LR hollowpoints. My cousin Earl and his sons swore .22 shorts were the best.

If keeping things quiet is the main objective (other than shooting criters that is) then maybe you should invest in a good quality supressor.

For quiet...marbles in a slingshot...but they don't work so well.  Neither do jolly ranchers.

Stingers out of a rifle should be good for anything up to coyote size inside 150 feet/50 yards.  They are hollow point lr's with a little longer case than the rest of the .22lr's. As far as what I know, the only .22 rimfires hotter than stingers are .22 magnums.
