Just Jawin At Camp / Hi Guys!
« Last post by bohicajuan on June 29, 2019, 01:29:30 AM »
I've been away for awhile but it's only because I've been super busy and have very little free time. I tried to stop by the other night, but I had forgotten my password. I just sent BC an e-mail to try and find it for me, but I thought I'd try one more time here and I got it right! I'm getting old. What can I say! :idiot2 :tickedoff

Hope all is well with everyone and if I can remember my password I'll try and stop by again. O0

Wow! That's too much head scratching for me to figure out, D! Have you figured what you are going to do?

I'm no engineer but it seems to me you just won't get much lift with an air boat. If you think about it, the motor/prop are actually going to push down on the front end because of the position. above the water line. I you tubed a few boats and they don't get ALOT of lift. The ones with the most lift in the nose had much more rake in the hull. Looks like their hulls tapered from the bow to about 2/3's of the way back leaving the back third near flat. They are not catamaran style, so they don't draft as deep.
The pilot also is seated near or behind centerline, thereby shifting more weight to the rear. Also they were running A LOT more HP than the stock 70hp the bug motor puts out.
Looks like you got a decent work horse but care will have to be taken not to overload it or expect it to race.
If you face utter disappointment, it wouldn't take much more work or money (compared to what you got in it now) to fill in between the cats. That will dramatically change the draft and thereby the drag.

 ???

Unintended consequences.

I added flotation pods in the back to carry the weight.

Which they did, but Now I cant get the nose to come up.

Even with the elevators full up.

That's a good idea, putting those 40" sturgeon back. It is rare when we catch them here on pole and line.

We used to commercial catch them in open water here during the winter, caught them while drifting trammel nets. Those, we kept.

Have you been fishing from your air boat yet?

 :buck2 Yes.
We put most all the fish back.
A 40" sturgeon is like 40 years old.
