Mushroom Hunting
« on: August 19, 2009, 10:16:02 AM »
I went out yesterday looking for some groundhogs to put down and didn't see any groundhogs but I did end up finding all kinds of crazy mushrooms.

Any ideas of what any of them are?
I wasn't about to start eating them...to the chagrin of you guise. :buck2

Fire up the skillet and oil and have yourself a feast!

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

The first 4 pics appear to be Boletes. They may or maynot be edible. Pending on if the have red spores or not. Spore testing is done with a peice of black paper and a peice of white paper. Do some research on how to do it and read the results properly. As JA said mushroom poisoning is an ugly way to check out. I don't mess with anything unless the books say "no poisonous look-a-likes".
Pics 7 and 8 almost look to be chanderelles, but not quite. again may or maynot be poisonous. They have a poisonous look-a-like called a jack-o-lantern.
The white ones I think fall into a catagory called " little brown mushrooms" or LBM's for short. These are the ones that tend to show up on peoples lawn. Some are edible some are not. The risk is too high for me so I just mash the crud out of them and move on.
Over all I don't see anything there I'd eat.

To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

Bring 'em on. I'm just siting a free for the taking state funded info. I'll have them guy's searchin' the whole county for shrooms. But we won't mention how somebody came to have sites not unlike "Mother Earth News" so readily available. Nope, ain't none of their business. Nope, don't need them searchin your backyard, I need them right here where I can keep an eye on them and maybe sucker them into doin' my shroom hunting for me.

I got number 1 for sure.
It's a Frost's Bolete.
I lol at the edibility description...They're all like "Well you might be able to eat but then again you might die a slow horrible death."

And I found mushroom 5...Well, sort of.
It's some sort of Ressula but there is about 10 different ones it could be...I can't tell.

I found this mushroom ID site that's pretty cool:
