Well it has been a good day from the beginning...I'm hunting a funnel between a big pond & an alfalfa field...the deer sign in there is unbelievable..had deer on me early this morning, was 2- 5 pointers sparring then 2 coyotes run em off & I made a pretty good shot on the coyote...got in the same tree tonight..seen a buck work a scrape line for 300 yards or so directly away from then an hour later I see him cross the holler & now he's on my side but detours before he gets to me....I keep watching in the direction he went when all the sudden a does comes barreling out there & runs right by me 10 yards or so...I keep watching that direction & 5 minutes behind her here he comes...I know I'm getting ready to get a chance at em..he's in a slow gate headed right at me..he gets right under the tree & I can't manuever around to get on him & he veers left & I grunted at em with my mouth to stop him..burn a hole in his side & the shot looks good, penatration aint what it should be but it looks like it hit the off shoulder...he hunches up & starts digging out of there...makes it to the top of the hill 60 yards or so before tipping over...I can't describe the feeling...he's a good -un for me & I'm tickled to death to get em....he's pretty good size body & decent rack,8 points with 3 kickers making em an 11.....here's some picts....here's one of the coyotes that run off them deer this morning..
In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
Nice but he looks an awful lot like BS!
Since I can't see the pictures, I'll have to reserve comment....
