February rabbits! (Can't wait!)
« on: February 03, 2010, 09:18:16 PM »
Im happy to live in Texas. No laws concerning rabbits. O0 President's day weekend and maybe the weekend after that, the guys are going to the lease for hogs and vodka... But I'm after rabbits! My .22 is gonna see some action! I love February! Rabbits are at their tasty best, and the hides are beautiful! Will post updates...

I have heard that Texas and other southwestern states have no seasons on rabbits. Makes it real tempting for a road trip during the winter cause i sure could not stand the summer heat. Good luck!!

Yep. But I do usually follow a set season. I really only keep hides in winter, and I avoid them in the summer for fear of worms, but sometimes my mouth waters and... well... they die. Have yet to find worms in one. Winter is the way to go. Bring a tee shirt and shorts. Winter is great here. :D It did get down to five degrees a couple weeks ago...

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

Some places, Utah & Nevada for example, don't require any type of license for jacks. But then again, they don't run in circles like the cottontails.

Dunno how much an out of state KS license cost, but you can take 10 rabbits a day here, all year long. And believe me, we got that many.
