No Turkey This Weekend.
« on: March 22, 2010, 04:17:50 PM »
Saturday morning was GORGEOUS. No wind, temps in the 50's and I just knew I was going to get one to at least gobble.

NOPE, NOT SO MUCH! :'(

I couldn't get a gobble to save my life while I walked some areas that I thought held birds. I hit a feed plot about 10:30am and stayed there until about 1:00pm and then spent the next couple of hours walking the property just looking for sign of turkey or any sheds that might have been dropped. I didn't even see a squirrel, I think the entire property was home watching the basketball tournament.

Woke up Sunday and the temp had dopped into the 40's and the wind was blowing like a hurricane. About sunup, it started to sprinkle and stayed misty and overcast until I left to come home at 1:00pm.

We had 5 people, counting me, hunting 2,000 acres and nobody got a bird although one of our members worked one for a while Saturday morning.

I checked with a few guys earlier today who I knew went this weekend and only one connected. So far I don't know if this turkey season is going to be as bad as this past deer season was, but I'm not optimistic.

To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

One thing's for certain though, you aren't going to get one sitting on the couch.  Hey, it wouldn't be any fun if you just went out and shot one every time you went, would it?

Just remember, the worst day hunting is better than the best day at work.  O0

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

This weather is really ticking me off. It actually snowed in Atlanta this morning. It melted right away, but you get the idea. It's raining right now and is supposed to rain all day today and tonight.

You can't hunt turkey when it rains!!!!

If this crap keeps up, I'll just stay home and watch the spring training baseball games. (they'll probably get rained out too)

If ANYBODY tries to tell me we need to ration water this year, I'm going to use and entire can of OC spray on them, shoot them with a tazer and then beat them with my baton.

YES, Virginia, the weather IS having an effect on bo!!!
