I haven't even been out yet
« on: April 27, 2010, 09:00:19 AM »
I have like one week left in the season and I have not even been out looking for turkey. The weather out were the turkey are has been atrocious. The snow is still waist deep ,or the roads are knee deep in MUD, and the wind, man even by Montana standards it has been blowing HARD-70 mph. BUT. The biggest reason is I've been dinking around so much bear hunting. The last 3 week I have been out bear hunting 10 times, that cuts in to the old hunting budget. The weather thing is just backward here this year. The High mountains have very little snow and mud so it is much easer to get in to bear hunt than normal. Long story short I hope to give turkey a good try this weekend and I think thats it for me this year. I need to get the boat out ( I have only had it out once this year ) and Paddle fish season starts May first, not to mention ,shooting gophers, prairie dogs and I haven,t shot a coyote in weeks, man I have to get past this Bear and turkey thing so i can get on with the rest... :'(

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

Ya Montana is the only place that snow plow driver is a year round job. It's dumping snow again here in town . Many of the roads and highways are closed and the snow plows are running around the clock. The wind is near 60 mph and knocking out power all over the state. :crazy2
