Thanks for checking it out Ks_Sniper!! :D   But I'll have to say that I'm going to have to pass on it.  The place in SC is private land.  It won't cost anyone a cent to hunt there (execept for any licenses we may need, and then most of the time a 3-5 day license for around $30 will cover it).  Lodging would be unlimited as far as space goes (you'll need a tent or a camper).  As far as food goes, I'm sure everyone will pitch in on that.  The "beverage of choice" will have to by BYOB.

Hey, we're all "rednecks" (according to the clarification by Dixiebanjo).  I'm sure this "roughing it" won't kill anyone.  It's cheap (We Be Po'), so the price is right (FREE!!!!).  And as an added bonus, evidently the place is loaded with hogs.  MMMMMMMMM............Fresh pork...........MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! :D  :D

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

The word FREE is a powerful and sometimes misused word. For instance, when you say FREE, you mean that once we get there, it's all free with possibly some exceptions, but for those of us as far west as Travo and I, a trip to SC would be quite costly...   ;)

Who am I kiddin... I'm stuck at home for a few days. It seems the tranny on my van has decided to go on strike and I barely coerced it home from work last night.

But back to the subject at hand, if I had the means to get there, I would be ALL over that. By the way, how long are we talking for this trip? Personally, I think a week is perfect, if it's on private land.

Also, travo. If you want to set somethin up with me to head down that way, I'm game once the funds are raised.

The FREE aspect of it is that it won't cost us anything to stay there and we could kill all the critters we wanted (or as many as the law allowed).  Yeah, it would cost a little bit to get there, but if 2-3 people carpool, then the money on the gas could be split up.  Probably, the most expensive thing is going to be the gas.  I don't know exactly what the cost of the license will be, but most 3-5 day licenses for small game/hogs are around $30.

The way I figure it, most people on here that are interested will probably be able to get by with spending around $100 for the whole thing.  Not bad for 5 days of hunting.

yeah,KS,im interested in OK,maybe we could carpool.just gotta set up a time. ive already got a colorado elk trip in Oct. and goin up north for rifle deer, so i already have a lot of tags to pay for and alot of time off to take, so SC is unreasonable for me. where in Kansas are you,KS?

BC, I could definitely pull of something like that, but we'll have to see what details unfold.

travo, I live in Wichita, about 50 miles from the OK border and 3.5 hrs from KC. I'm only planning on doing some turkey hunting this year, though I still have to sneak, cheat, and steal what money I can out of my slim budget... unless my investments pay off before then.  :D
