In NY we are allowed to spotlight deer year round as long as there is no weapon in the car or your gun is locked in the trunk or broken down same with bow basically. Can use a spotlight for furbearers at night .

Here in VA, we can with written permission from a landowner while not having any sort of weapon in our vehicle.  Not real sure how the rules applies to concealed weapon permits and if they're exempt while carrying concealed.

Our rule states:

It is unlawful to cast a light attached to a vehicle or from a vehicle beyond a roadway upon places used by deer without written permission of the landowner or at anytime while in possession of a rifle, shotgun, pistol, archery tackle, or a speargun.

It is legal to use a light on predator hunts with written permission.

A speargun??  ???  That's a new one on me!  ;D
The only purpose of bread is to hold meat!

John Andrews Is My Hero!

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
