Shed Antler Training?
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:14:24 PM »
My Lab retriever is five years old and knows how to find things by scent, but I can't get him to actively look for sheds...

If I give him the command and a few steps in the right direction he can do it, but that means I have to see it first, taking the point of having a shed dog away (Not that I don't still love him).

So any pointers on getting my dog to proactively use his nose?

I read an article somewhere not too long about about shed-training dogs.  I think it was in Full Cry.  I'll have to look back through my old issues and see if I can find it for you.  O0  It was pretty good.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
