East Canyon Resv with Duneman
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:47:24 PM »
Dune, one of his buddies & I hit East Canyon Resv this morning. On the lake about 7:30 & the ice was about 6" thick. Still freaks me out when the ice creaks & cracks...

Was pretty slow starting out fishing in about 23' of water, but after a couple hours, we opted to try different depths. Dune & his bud went to about 9' & I went to around 38'. A half hour later I had 2 so we figured they were deeper today. Final tally as of when we left around noon was 5 rainbows. We kept all but 1 which was about 10-12".

All in all, a pretty good day. O0

By the way, on the way in & out we saw more deer than people, I think. Lots of good size does & some pretty decent bucks. Plenty of fawns too so next year may well be a better year for the herd. O0

In the past, I've found that if I don't do somethin with the fish soon, they sit in the freezer for a long time as I forget about them. So I looked up a new recipe to try out & this was the outcome.

It was pretty good (my son sure liked it) but if I make it again there's some changes I'd make, namely adding more pepper & using regular milk instead of the heavy whipping cream the recipe called for. It just made it too rich. I think I'd also add some fresh garlic to the sauteed mushrooms & maybe some green onions too, just to add some more flavor.

It's good to see you getting out again Ks.  O0  Guess ol' Duneman had to twist your arm to get you out.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.

It was good to get out again. Unfortunately, now I wanna do it again, and now that my job has moved me to 4 10's, I'll have a day every week that I might be able to do it.

On a side, yet similar note, I saw more rabbit tracks up there than I've seen in YEARS. We also passed a WMA on the way up so we'll have to see if we can cultivate an opportunity there. O0

It was a good time even though i got skunked... KS sure showed us how it was done, i missed like 10 bites, i just couldn't get the hook set...  It was a good day though not cold and good to meet a gutpiler.  In my defense though KS was using my ice pole so i can technically claim the 4 fish he caught right????

I'm cookin mine up tomorrow, but dang that looks good KS.

"Cultivate" huh?  They say that most marijuana is grown on public lands out west, so have at it.  O0 ;D

To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.
