Perch Party
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:22:37 AM »
Went to a perch party at Pineview this is a pic of our take home.  KS was up there too, but i didn't see him till the party afterwards.  brought home 57.  the fish in the middle of the C was a crappie, the only one of the day.  we through back at least twice as many as we brought home.

The end result, this is about an eighth of what we cooked, but the kids were chowin it down fast.

In retrospect i wouldn't have kept half of the fish we did, never having filleted anything before i didn't realize how much work it would be for so little meat.  i've promised myself never to keep another perch under 18 inches...    they are a tasty fish though.

Looks good.  O0  Congrats on the fish Duneman.  O0

I've got some crappie in the freezer.  Think I may have to thaw them out and do a little cookin'.

Threw a package of turtle in the fridge to thaw over the weekend.  O0 O0 O0

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

MMMM turtle sounds good, i haven't had a good turtle since I left Florida...  soft shell turtle soup is where it's at with fried gator bits.

Nice haul!! O0 O0 O0

What did you catch them on?

Was this ice fishing? If it was, what kind of tackle do you use?

Perch and crappie are two of the best eatting fish out there!! O0 O0 O0
To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

Thanks bo!

We were ice fishing for these.  Just about any hook with a meal worm or wax worm attached would work, we were successful with red, pink, green and white jig heads, but little green were the best.

Everyone was saying how good of a fish they were to eat, i'd have to agree that they were tasty.

Although I have no pictures (camera battery was dead), I went out with the scouts to this. What an experience! By the time I thought to call Dune (we'd been talkin about it for a couple weeks now), my cell phone had no signal. Ah well... In any case, we were getting almost as many crappie as we were perch. between the four of us, we brought home 21 crappie & 30 perch. Had 3 missed hits for every successful hookset. One of the boys had never been fishing and he slaughtered everybody else. I'm thinkin he'll want to do it again. O0

My tiny freezer's getting full. I have more fish in the freezer now than anything else.

Oh, and our preferred bait was a green & black jighead with perch eyes in 46' of water.
