Guess I'll have to fix it myself
« on: August 21, 2012, 12:24:31 AM »
I wasted alot of time today looking for someone to replace the limb washer on my bow. Seems everyone is concerned they can't get the part. There doesn't seem to be a standard for the part and every manufacturer is different. Sure looks like a simple part to me. Just a hard plastic washer with a countersink on one side.
That's where working in a machineshop with a great boss pays off. This is the second bow I've had this happen to, so screw the plastic, I think I'm going aluminum.
My choices are fix it myself or miss the first opportunity to bowhunt private ground I've had in 12 years. I'm in a big hurry to fix it. I just gotta figure out how to safely press it down myself.
Checked my arrows and wouldn't you know it, I don't have a single one with good fletch. I don't know if the cracked out from age or got damage from broadhead practice. I been looking around and seems I'm the only one that still uses aluminum arrows. Guess I gotta make the switch to carbon now. Even wally world doesn't have aluminum arrows. Man, I'm behind the times.

O0 Good idea on the fix, MO!

And you aren't the only one behind the times when it comes to archery.

We'll see how this season goes. I tripped across a tutorial on a knife site that shows how to make your own self bow from osage orange and another for DIY arrows and broadheads. I give it a try for next year.
