Holy Crap!
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:55:46 AM »
I was looking on the Excalibur crossbow discussion forum this morning and saw where a guy had gotten a monster with his Excalibur.  I think the guy is in Alabama, but hes definitely down south somewhere.  Makes the one I got look like a baby!

Best Buck Ever! Brown Bear 225 gets it done! by BigNasty Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:53 pm
37 yard shot with my Brown Bear 225, Twilight DLX scope, GT Laser II with brass insert, 125 grain Razor Trick, Firenock, Summit Climber and a whole lot of luck!!! Spine hit, pass through with the exit out the brisket. Dead right there. He was pissed at an 8 point that was chasing a doe. He ran the smaller buck off and started to follow the doe up the next ridge. Longest shot ever a little longer than I like, but I didn't think I'd ever get another chance. Same buck that was in the field yesterday, didn't have an idea he was on the property up till then. Killed at 10:30am this morning about 600 yards from the field in a open woods of old standing timber. It is truly better to be lucky than good sometimes. To quote my dad who was nice enough to drive down to take a picture "I bet you wont make a lamp out of this one." He is right!

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

That pic has been around the web for about 2 years now. Hell, it's even been rumored to have come from Moore Co. NC. I actually think it was confirmed as an Illinois kill.

If that be the case, it'll be interesting to see what the guy has to say about it.  :knuppel2

After what Ned said, I started hitting Google. A deer that big, there's going to be several entries about. I just called the guy's bluff in a series of 3 posts on the Excalibur site:

Not to totally doubt you BigNasty, but something isn't adding up.  :? If you say that you killed the deer, that's fine. I'm more than willing to believe that. But why B.S. us and say that you took it Tuesday morning, 11/1/11?

What's up with this Buck . I have received this same pic from 2 different guys. One said this buck was killed in Mongomery Co, PA. and the other guy tells me Near Allentown ,PA.

Here is the pic my friend sent me last week.copy and paste it in your browser. It's the same deer. I'm not saying this guy didn't shoot it. But how did I see this same deer pic 10 days ago?

I sent the picture to a buddy of mine. He came back and told me:

So if you did get it, why lie to us and say you got it on Tuesday of this week?

I am genuinely interested in seeing more pics of your deer. Indeed, I think Whitetail Magazine would be interested in doing a story on it.
So could you show us a few more pics of this fine animal?

Unless BigNasty's real name is Joe Kocher and he took the deer in Jasper County, Illinois with a shotgun, I think we're being played.  :x I found the following article:
http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/pso/article/tales_from_the_timber_kocher_buck/
Notice the slight bend on the right brow tine? See the limb/rock against the left main beam on the ground? What are the odds of 2 bucks this big having the exact same looking rack and the exact same limb/rock on the ground in the picture? So much for not having any pictures taken with the lucky hunter in the picture because he wasn't presentable.  ::)
Also, it seems Mr. Kocher's Facebook page was updated over a year ago.

What I'd like to know also is if he got the deer on Tuesday, how he already got it back from the taxidermist??

What I find interesting too is that clearly the deer was taken with a shotgun, but the following was posted:
