Bizarre Buck: Maryland Hunter Tags 23-Pointer With Brain Abscess, Hollow Antler
 
Mark Hahr couldn't believe his eyes when he walked up to the big whitetail hed put to the ground just minutes into his first Maryland gun hunt. Expecting to get his hands on the tall, gnarly rack hed spotted just after daybreak in his scope, Hahr instead saw a curious sight: A raw, bloody spot where the left antler should be. Thinking hed shot the antler off, he quickly scanned the buck.

The entry wound was right where hed put the crosshairs, just behind the bucks shoulder. His bullet didnt separate the antler from the deers skull, so what did?

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
