If you had to choose one gun - and only one gun....
« on: September 21, 2012, 06:18:16 PM »
The NRA put up an interesting question on their page - Let's hear it - what'cha think?

If you had to choose one gun - and only one gun - to get you through a disaster (be it traditional or zombie-related), what would it be and why?

Up here in the clear air of the North handguns are out of the question.
There is no doubt a shotgun is the most versatile firearm, from shot to slugs. With interchangable barrels it is even more so.
For a rifle I would opt out something the military uses in a cartridge IE 223 or 308. You can pack more ammo for the 223 so I would probably choose that one.

What in Hades happened to the spell checker??

For a shotgun, a 20 inch barrel modified choke 12 gauge (preferably remington 870) for hunting AND defense. Modified choke because you can still use a slug out AND you have decent range and patterning with bird shot.
For a rifle, AK-47. Say what you wish, but no matter what you do to that thing it will NOT die or choke. It can take down deer and bear, it can be used as a defensive rifle AND it can be used as a hammer or pry bar in a pinch :p

It is important to have enough guns to cover all the bases, whatever comes up.
