It's been six months since my open heart surgery and I figured it was time to see how it was going with me drawing a bow. Monday went out and shot some 3-D and did pretty well for an old guy shooting recurves. I must be honest and admit I shot my Kodiak Magnum a little better than my Black Widow but I have a few months to get back into shape before bow season opens up. I didn't tear up any arrows either which is what I was most concerned about. I was in the paint with all of my shots and from ground level. I'll have to get ready for treestand shooting pretty soon though. Put about 75 arrows down range and didn't feel terribly winded or tired. Woke up a little sore in my lats Tuesday so I guess I need to hit the lat bar and the bent over rows a bit more. Probably invest in a few more arrows after the next pay check, since I know it's only a matter of time before I send some flying into a tree/post/rock/stump/car/house/liberal.....
In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
We've got a big azz detail to work for the 4th of July, but I'm hoping to get out and shoot some more 3-D either Saturday or Sunday. We'll see.
Yep, I'm on it right now. We have twelve hour shifts today and tomorrow and possibly Friday. We just got word that due to all the rain we're getting tonight and they're predicting more tomorrow, that some of the areas around us have cancelled their fireworks for a later date. As of this moment, we're still a go, but I hope we cancel. As much as I love the 4th in principle it's a pain in the azz in practice. People can't behave and act like they belong in a zoo! I recall the good ol days when we got our black cat firecrackers and bottle rockets and M-60s from a place off the first exit on I-85 inside South Carolina and bring them back home and have fun!!
Well, we had our little salute to the 4th despite a bit of rain early. It was all over before 10:00pm and now I'm going to sit back in my office and let the rookies work!
