Snow!
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:18:38 AM »
Well, we got dumped on.  ::)   It's been a few years since we've had a "significant" snowfall around here.  It started Sunday night around midnight and kept it up all day yesterday.  The last time I checked it, we had 8 1/2" and it was still coming down.  Probably ended up with a little more than 9".  My brother sent me a text and said that they had well over a foot down at the farm.  ;D

I think the last time we had this much snow was in 1994.  It dumped a bunch of freezing rain and then about a foot of snow on top of that.

The thing that is going to be sucking now is the temp.  Wednesday night the low is supposed to be around -10 degrees.  :o   If they're calling for that, it's going to be a whole lot colder at the house.  Below is a picture i took this morning of the instrument panel in the truck.  Notice what it says the temp is in the upper right corner.  :tickedoff   The temp on my phone was saying 3 degrees.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.

 Wow, BC! Your winter is shaping up like ours but without that much present amount of snow here.

I think it was very nice of you to take the snow hit for us. Not everyone is that generous.

Seriously, that is a hard hit! Are you getting a lot of wind with that? I hope not.

It was a wise move when you bought your nice 4WD truck, BC.  O0 At least you can get around OK. Many people don't think they need it when they buy a truck.  ;D Perhaps not, those folks that don't poke their noses out of the door or prefer to park their 2WD vehicles in roadside ditches.

Your late snow will be good for your morel mushrooms this coming season.

We dodged the bullet here with only 3 inches, could have been 8-10. The temps are brutal and going to get worse.

We had flurries tonight and is going to be dropping to single digits tonight and a high of about +6 tomorrow, not counting wind chill.

2 more inches of snow. BC? Lucky fella!  ;D A pal from the Lexington area called me last weekend and told me how nice your KY weather was. I reckon that went down the toilet, huh?

Pretty much John.  ;D   We ended up with about 2.5 - 3" more at the house last night.  ;D

Sounds like you guys are getting out of the "bad" stuff.  They're calling for negative temps tonight and single digits tomorrow.  That's supposed to keep it up through the weekend, when it will warm up enough on Saturday to give us a rain/snow mix and then the temps are dropping again.  :tickedoff

There's a saying around here that I've heard quite a bit.  "Don't like the weather in the Ohio Valley?  Just wait a few hours.  It'll change."  ;D

We can name it Jesse or Al. You're choice!!
To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Our temp right now is -2F, feels like -12F with a high of maybe +12F today.

At least our roads are in good shape, are probably freeze dried.

I got up this morning and we didn't have a temperature.  :? ;D   The news was saying it was 0 in several areas of Louisville.  Zero = nothing.  ;D

The weather station I've got in the house said it was -10.4 in the barn.  I got in the truck and it was reading -12.

I think we're supposed to get up into the single digits today.  I left all of the faucets dripping last night and this morning when I left.  The boy is at the house (been out of school all week), but he'll stay hunkered down in his room with a heater and playing games.  O0
