Silk socks and silk base layer
« on: December 23, 2017, 01:35:33 PM »
Ever try silk as a base layer?
Wonderful stuff.

I have long johns and long sleeve shirt in 94% silk

and just ordered Knee high socks.

A lot of times the silk is plenty to around -10*

Then I have polar fleece I put over that under normal pants and shirt.

I have been looking for socks long enough for ever found them.

" Wintersilks.com"

On sale too $8 free freight on $50.

Hope to let you know in a week or so If the work as planned.

Thanks for the info, D! I have always wondered if silk is as warm as they claim.

I know I'd like to hear a report about it. Like John, I've always wondered if it lives up to the claims. Hard to beleive material so thin could be so effective.

I already have long johns and tea shirt of Heavy silk, 94% silk.
There paper thin and smooth work great to around -10*.
AND you stay dry, no dampness. If the socks are as good I'll be impressed for sure.

I'll put them to the test.
 Elk hunt in the morning.
4 hour drive ,weatherman is saying there will be snow falling all the way .
When we get there we will use the 4wheelers in -20* most the day.
Will try to shoot two cow elk, hopefully in the morning then finish out the two day trip with a bunch of coyote calling.

That sounds like a full day, and cold! Let us know how the silk works out and your hunt, D.
