Help me out here do I need a 8mm?
« on: August 18, 2019, 04:04:04 PM »
8mm Remington Magnum.
17,204,223,243/6mm, and 45/70

I have nothing in-between .

30 calibers, 270's, and the current hot shot 6.5's are boring to me for what ever reason.

I think I NEED a larger game caliber.

Boy and his wife have most every thing up to 458.

BUT no 8mm.

Humm sounds like I NEED to fill that hole.

What about a 8mm Remington Magnum?

I looked at brass and it is out of sight.

But it looks like 7mm mag or 375 H&H brass is more in line and not to hard to rework.

I have a 7mm mouser action in a stock,I could get for the asking and do a barrel. The more I reed the more I feel the need for a 8mm Remington Magnum.

Any real time experience or first hand knowledge?

Anything that can send a 220gr bullet out the end of a 24" barrel at over 3500 fps has my attention for sure.

It sure looks like you are well covered for everything else, D!  O0 What are you planning to hunt with it?

I have one Mauser left, an 8mm but it is straight military. You want something with some more punch, looks like.

Found one .
Remington 700 BDL Longaction in 8mm rem mag.
No scope, 5 boxes of factory shells and 6 boxes of once shot brass.
Shipped to my LGS $670. Just got the notice it will be here on Monday.
Man am I pumped.
I ordered, Sierra GameKing Bullets 8mm (323 Diameter) 220 Grain Spitzer Boat Tail.
and
Barnes Triple-Shock X (TSX) Bullets 8mm (323 Diameter) 200 Grain Hollow Point Boat Tail.
Not sure about powder but it looks like maybe reloaded 25.
I'm looking into a new style "limb saver"
Need scope and bases and rings.
Is a one-piece base better on big magnums?
Need a scope with a LOT of eye relief 5" maybe?
What do you think? I'm guessing it'll have a 24" barrel, I think
That's what they came with back when they were sold.

O0 That's a lot of rifle, D! And I think you got a nice deal, too. I would go with a solid one piece mount. As far as a scope, I don't have a clue what you need without spending a lot of money for glass.
