Best huntin trucks!!!
« on: July 06, 2005, 04:34:19 PM »

My favorite is the Silverado because my grandpa worked at a Chevy dealer and ever since then my family has only had chevys and i pick the silverado because It is a monster truck to haul your huntin gear and maybe a hard earned whitetail. I do not own one because i can not afford but when i can you bet i will.

P.S Please write why you feel the way you do.

I said tha f150 just because the older trucks are easy to come by and have the raw power to go where you go. And if they get stuck or trashed... just leave it there and get another one.

Best hunting Truck?  In my case it's a 1986 Extended Cab Toyota 4X4, with 183,000 miles, that I paid $800.00 for.  I don't have to worry about scratches, mud, guts, etc.  It is simply a gas and go vehicle.  Like Ks_Sniper said, when it gets stuck or thrashed, leave it there and get another.

Mad River, you have good taste! I have a Toyota Tundra extended cab 4X4 V8. It's one of several Toyotas I have had.  Like the saying goes, I love my Toyota!  Chevys are good, too. We have 12 or 15  new Chevy trucks and a couple of new Fords for patrol vehicles at work. They have worked out pretty good, except I wish they had gotten the Chevys with larger engines than what we have. Our two Fords are the 4X4 Expeditions, really nice for patrol vehicles. Lots of power and they handle really good, except for a tad top heavy for high speed curves. Our patrols really put them through the paces, and they have held up pretty good. We have had one minor problem with the new Chevys- the O2 sensors have been burning out. Sometimes it is the wiring going to the sensor. The insulation gets rubbed off in one area and the sensors quit working. Our mechanics are looking for the rub place and probably have it figured out by now, I'm sure.

John, yes I am a big Toyota fan.  I have owned 1990 Pick-up, 1987 4-Runner, and 1994 Land Cruiser.  The Cruiser was my favorite (6 to 8 MPG really hurts though) but I ended up selling it to some guy who just had to have it.  I sold it 8 months after buying it, and made $3,000.  Currently, I have the 1986 Pickup, 2002 4-Runner (Wife's), and 1998 Ford Expedition.  I typically drive the truck now that gas is soooo expensive.  Gas just hopped up to $2.30 per gallon here this morning.  Next week, I am taking the family on vacation to Kitty Hawk, NC in the Expedition, that is going to be expensive.  Speaking of the Expedition, I have the 5.4L with 83,000 miles on it and have had no trouble yet.  It's my first Ford by the way.  I am glad to see that the "Fix Or Repair Daily" thing has not applied.
