Update: Wisconsin Concealed-Carry Ban Upheld
« on: February 17, 2004, 06:53:34 AM »
MADISON, WI--The Wisconsin Assembly upheld the state's 130-year ban on concealed firearms last week. The ban was upheld by a single vote from a lawmaker--Democratic Rep. Gary Sherman--who originally had signed on as a co-sponsor of the bill. Sherman says he changed his vote in an effort to protect Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle from being the first governor in more than 18 years to have a veto overturned by the state Legislature.

Senate Bill 214 would've allowed county sheriffs to issue permits allowing certain people to carry concealed firearms. Applicants would have had to be 21 years old or older with no felony convictions during the previous 3 years. They would've also had to pass a firearms training course and background check.

Wisconsin Republican Rep. Scott Gunderson led the push to legalize concealed guns in Wisconsin and says the bill will be back in the next legislative session and that he and his supporters "will continue to move forward."

Wisconsin is now one of only six states that don't allow citizens to carry concealed firearms.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
