Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Upcoming Maryland Bear Hunt
« on: March 07, 2004, 07:49:36 AM »
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a meeting next week to explain its plan for the stateís first black bear hunt in 50 years and to receive public comment.  Sportsmen are urged to attend and demonstrate support for the hunt.

The meeting is scheduled for March 10 from 7-9 PM in the Beall Junior-Senior High School ís auditorium in Frostburg.  Sportsmenís turnout and grassroots action is important to make the season a reality.  Anti-hunters are waging a vigorous campaign to protest the hunt.

The proposed bear hunt will take place October 25-30 and December 6-11.  It will occur in western Maryland .

Maryland 's Black Bear Task Force, a governor-appointed, citizen panel established to provide suggestions for managing the state's bear population, recently released its 10-year Black Bear Management Plan.  It calls for a bear hunt and increased habitat protection.

A bill that would have banned the hunt was defeated in the House Environmental Matters Committee last week.

Take Action!  Maryland sportsmen are urged to attend the meeting.  Those who cannot attend can send their comments to the DNR regarding the hunt until April 2. Comments can be mailed to Black Bear Project, 1728 Kingís Run Road , Oakland , MD 21550 or e-mailed to customerservice@dnr.state.md.us.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
