Pamela Anderson Takes Aim at KFC By ROGER ALFORD, Associated Press Writer
Fri Jan 13, 9:31 AM ET

Pamela Anderson is leading a charge to remove a bust of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders from the state Capitol.

The actress called the Kentucky native's likeness "a monument to cruelty" to chickens in a statement issued by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the animal rights group.

The statement did little to ruffle feathers in Gov. Ernie Fletcher's office.

"Colonel Sanders was one of Kentucky's most distinguished citizens, a great entrepreneur and a fine charitable man of faith, and he certainly has a place in Kentucky history. We believe he warrants appropriate recognition as such," Fletcher spokeswoman Jodi Whitaker said.

Anderson has been involved in a campaign to raise awareness of conditions in processing plants that supply poultry to the Louisville-based chicken chain.

In a letter to Fletcher, Anderson detailed alleged abuses of chickens by KFC suppliers. Among her claims, she said workers in a slaughterhouse in West Virginia have been filmed tearing the heads off live birds, spitting tobacco in their eyes, spray-painting their faces and slamming them on the ground.

KFC spokeswoman Laurie Schalow called the move to oust the colonel "just another misguided publicity stunt by PETA in their attempt to create a vegan society."

You know what, maybe these workers did and maybe they didn't do these things, but you know what is really bothersome? I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to find out that these were setups BY PETA employees themselves.

I absolutely believe the chickens were not treated that way. I worked in a packing house for years and did many tours in every type of slaughterhouse imaginable.  I also toured many processing plants as part of my then profession as a different type of  business rep.  Animals and birds are not treated in the manner Pamela Emptyhead suggests, for several reasons. One reason being, the animals are too valuable to be treated that way. Other reasons, employees are closely supervised and the majority of the employees have the same feelings as does the general public as to how an animal should be treated. Only a very small percentage of packing house employees ever see a live animal in a slaughterhouse. One time, as a prank, I and some fellow jokesters chased a live hog into the plant cafeteria where I worked. The room was full of employees having their lunch. When they saw the hog burst through the double doors, a wild melee ensued. People were on top of tables and chairs, and running out the doors in a panic. It was hilarious, total chaos! ;D ;D

Ya, Pam Anderson... Like she represents real life...HA!
We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the coarse of history.
