Figured that I would go ahead and post the pictures of my knives here with the other ones that John has made.

If anyone else has any knives made by John, be sure and snap some pictures of it and post them up in this section.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.

John,

I am interested in a hunting knife with a bone (antler) handle for my father as a Christmas gift.  What are the chances of this and what do I need to do?

Thanks,
Rookie

Rookie, thanks for asking! To be honest, it is going to be a real close call, getting one done for you for Christmas. I am way behind in the shop and getting one finished for a certain GPS gentleman in Canada that is sitting on a cold drill rig right now. I have sent you a PM. My regular hunting knives have gone up to $225 because of my raised costs of materials and shipping, unfortunately.  SRick, that Marbles knife has some real collector value!  It looks to be in grat shape, too. NIX ON THE 100 BUCK SALE until you find out what it is actually worth! On some other boards they can give you a better idea what your knife is really worth, and there are lots of colectors that would be ready to snap up your knife. I will send you a PM. Your history of the knife will be of interest of the collectors, too.

You know John, pretty soon here you might have to open up an assembly line. ;D I'm still wanting one myself, but I won't order one until I know for sure that the money's extra and not needed. Probably some time next year.  O0

Forgot to mention about mine:

Blade is 440 stainless
Handles are from a burly piece of California Buckeye
White in the handles is Mastadon Ivory

 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

As far as "field trial", my knife (my son's is in the safe until he's a little older) cleaned a turkey in the spring, about 6-7 squirrels, field dressed, skinned, and deboned 1 deer and then field dressed and skinned another deer before needing sharpening (it wouldn't shave anymore!).  Other than a few fingerprints on the steel right now, it looks the same as the day I got it. They keep an edge really well, but it's some hard steel!  It will take a while to resharpen.  But like I said, it holds and edge for a long time.  See my previous post on all of the critters the knife went through before needing sharpening. O0

If you wanna get ahold of John Andrews, good luck. That old indian is like the jackalope. He's really just a myth the bring on the site now and again. The only reason he's ranked #1 in sheer number of posts is that he's been on the site since before the first world war. He's just been waiting for technology to catch up. ;)

Just send John a PM. But be warned, I think there's a line now. I know I just ordered a couple... O0

So has anyone else gotten their knives from Onestone yet?

My new one is going to be the same design as the first, but smaller and with Osage Orange for the handle. O0
