Nice, but I would rather buy a clip or magazine fed rifle for hunting. There WILL be times when you will need another shot quicker than what a single shot rifle provides.

Hey Mad River, I have the same problem... left ear is shot and the right is catching up. I believe its from lots of pistol shooting without protection, and yes I am right handed. I too get the ringing at times and some clicking, really sucks. I used to shoot handguns a lot with no ear plugs and by the end of the day we could barely hear eachother speck...DA! Live and learn, and for you young people out there... listen up while you can, wear hearing protection at ALL times. Us old farts can teach you a thing or three if your smart enough to listen.
We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the coarse of history.

Any of you ever haave your ears start ringing out of nowhere when everything is normal. For instance, I can be sitting at the computer and BAM! my ears start ringing. I heard a Dr. say once that when your ears ring, it from hearing loss. :'(

.....I hope some of our friends here will try standard velocity 22 ammo for thier squirrel hunting. The match qualities often deliver the absolute best of accuracy, along with a very mild report. These loads compromise nothing to high velocity loads out to 50-60 yards,in either ranging trajectory or killing power with head shots. These loads are entirely adequet for squirrel hunting, and no matter the quanity of shooting done there's no hearing damage. Try it!

Yep, my left, which is the worst, will start ringing for no reason here and there.  It had never lasted more then 10 minutes though.
I have long know that it is part of God's plan for me to spend a little time with each of the most stupid people on earth.

I see you're playing stupid again...  looks like you're winning too.

My ears never stop ringing. Several years ago I tried out a hearing aid that cancelled the ringing, but the cost negated owning one. If I remember, it was a Miracle Ear hearing aid.

There are so many different brands and make and models of .22.

Some that I own,
savage bolt action, very nice, easy on the pocket book and a good shooter.

ruger 10/22 semi-auto, fun, the tinkerer's dream, you can get so many aftermarket parts, stocks and barrells it'll make your head spin.

mossberg bolt action bought it at a gun show used, and I need to get it out more.

EAA Firearms Biathalon Basic. This is my favorite 22 that I have, very accurate with cheap ammo and deadly with target.  It has a straight pull bolt, (Biathalon action)  and th price was comperable to marlin or savage!

Figure out what you want and need, try some other people's rifles if you can and then go shopping!!

Good luck!
