Well you guys are welcome any time. Not much to hunt in the summer but some really great fishing.

I don't really want to go that far north (it's a North vs. South thing.....), but if I have to I will.  The only condition is that I have BEER! O0  And something to kill, even if it's cats (we can try the Indian John's Beer Roasted Cat recipe). O0
Yeah, Beer Roasted Cat! O0  O0  O0 I saw one for the pot a couple of days ago, but it's had too many vehicles run over it by now.  we would have to have Cat Pancakes if we use that one. They are easy to prepare, just light frying, then add  plenty of real butter and lots of syrup.  Or, you can trim to size and use a waffle iron.    ;D  ;D  ;D

BC, have you told them about my Carp Cupcakes yet? Or the 'Possum Possible Pie?  I know you planned on bringing Squirrel Brain Jelly, but you head shot all those squirrels this last season.  O0

I think I'll pass on the cat, for now. I am, however looking forward to carp and friiiiied turtle. So, if I make this happen, I will FULLY expect one indian elder and rough looking, slow moving (sorry BC, couldn't pass that one up. ) redneck to show up and provide us with some food of their specialty. O0

See ya there. ^-^

Once we determine what we're gonna hunt, I'll post another poll about which months work out best for people. By the time we get this going, I'll have a few days of paid vacation accrued at the new job and will be able to get off whenever. O0

I was thinking of maybe we have a shoot off, say, 100 yards. That was until I realized BC would want to use fleas as targets. I realize I am already outclassed, so I will be contented to be the range master or the score keeper. I can see it now. While I am scoring BC's target, there is one tiny hole about an inch from the center of the bullseye, with tiny dark splatter all around the hole. You know what that would be. BC had to take one flea out of the air as it jumped.  Nope, I ain't gonna waste my ammo shooting against you rascals, I am already beat. Aspirins at 100 yards, OK. Fleas at 100 yards, no way!

How about cutting cards at 100? I've done this with a 50 cal ML at 25 yds and had a blast. We'll have to see if we can di that with our preferred shooters.

That would be fun! Some of you crack shots would be bored, but some of us would have fun trying.  O0

John talks me up like I can actually shoot!  Dang, I'm starting to be a legend in my own mind! ;D  Don't let the "old Indian" fool you...........I think he could probably out shoot the VAST majority of us!

As far as the "rough looking, slow moving redneck" providing the turtle..........I kinda' ate it all. :-[ :'(  I had a really crappy day at work Monday and on the way home thought, "Boy, some fried turtle sounds really good."  Ended up eating almost 2 lbs of deboned turtle!  Not to fear though, I should be able to round a few up by the time the shindig develops.

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.
