A fruitful day on the lake.
« on: September 02, 2006, 11:01:15 PM »
Just got in from the lake.  Went "up north" fishing with a friend of mine.  It's a bit ironic how things worked out.

We went about an hour and a half north of where we live in Wausau Wisconsin to a town called Phillips.  There's a great Musky lake about 30 minutes west of Phillips, and the past few falls we've kind of made this little trip a tradition.  Stay in the same hotel in Phillips, eat at the same diner for breakfast...etc.

We had a lot of action all day, but other than some mediocre largemouth, and some small Musky (22"-35" range), it was a pretty dull day as far as the fishing part of the fishing trip goes.  Of course we still had a great time, don't get me wrong, but that dreams of gazillion inch fish were all but shattered.

But something weird happened.  We're heading home, it's about 6:30pm when we pull back in to town.  We still have 2 live 14" suckers left as bait, and we don't want to waste them.  So we put the boat in on our home town Lake Wausau to fish until about 8:30pm.

My friend lands this 45" Musky about 15 minutes from his front door.  We drove all the way up north because it's what you do around here when we want to really fish!  I think this is a good reminder that sometimes what you're looking for is right here at home.

My buddy has rheumatoid arthritus, he had a real hard time holding up this estimated 30-pounder with one hand.

This isn't a record breaking Musky by any stretch, you don't even consider mounting one until it's over 50".  But it's still respectable and it was exactly what we'd been looking for all day long.

Outstanding! O0 O0
To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

that is Ironic...traveling to catch a nice one, to catch the biggest one in your backyard...its kinda like me and hunting, my cousin and I have this thing to go up "north" for early muzzeloader" only bag a button buck between the 2 of us, to come home and bag all kinds of deer with shotgun open...but early Muzzy is our first crack at anything...so we do it out of tradition...its always a planned vacation day, and hopes are higher than any point in the fall,... untill the rut starts, then its full blown bow season...cant wait...(for either one)
your mission if you choose to accept it, is to go through the boiler maker to get to the Gut Pile Style

I have long know that it is part of God's plan for me to spend a little time with each of the most stupid people on earth.

I see you're playing stupid again...  looks like you're winning too.
