.204 Ruger Shooters?
« on: March 02, 2007, 09:48:04 PM »
Are there any owners out there that could fill me in on this little round?  I've read about it here and there and have heard nothing but good.  Pro's/Con's, game you use it for, make/model suggestions; anything you got.  I have my eye on a high prescision varmint model made by Savage.  Pretty pricey though.  Let me know what you got.

My pal has one, a Savage .204. It's a great round and shoots better with the 40gr bullet. I got to say one thing, it's about the loudest rifle I have ever stood next to, as far as small arms calibers.

Semper Fi, Sgt! I shot on the Marine Corps Rifle/Pistol team and i'm surprised that you don't want a 223! The rounds are cheap and you I both know that you can engage targets at 500 yards with great accuracy with open sights. O0

O0 Absolutely right, but I can't afford one right now. I still shoot my M16 at work, compliments of Uncle Sam.

I bought a cheap H&R just to check it out, I am very pleased so far with some handloads I cooked up. I'm shooting 39 grain sierra blitz kings at 3,800 at some change.

I've hit coke bottles out to 400 yards with it quite easily, I love it for the low recoil, even less than a .223. Here is a pic with a 100 yard target with my handloads.

Shoots pretty good for a 300 dollar rig, came with a BSA and rings.  I'm planning to use it as a coyote rig.  First I have to see one to test it out :'(
