Oh yeah, wouldn't we all. I realy, realy don't like steak, but venison brisket just makes me drool. Maybe its just my imagination and I enjoy eatin what I worked hard for, but thats the way it is.

If I enjoyed the foods I worked the hardest for the most, then I would have gone insane from the immense enjoyment I obtained from eating that turtle last year. Never have I had such a hard time getting the meat out of any critter. In the end, the backstraps were alright, but I think I messed up the rest of the meat. I'll have to try again one of these days. :-\

Did you use a fiber cut off wheel to open him up? Next time try soft-shell turtle, they are easier to handle(so I hear, I hate turtle).

A treble hook with a piece of red flannel works great. And when you run across one that won't bite, you just dangle the hook under his chin and snag him, coming straight up with the hook.

And these ideas are more efficient than gigging?

No, it just works if you don't have a gig handy. A rifle works the best, but we know what the laws say about that.   Of course, I can't imagine someone going to a farm pond loaded with big tasty bullfrogs and using a rifle to easily collect as many frogs as you want.

I just found one of these amazing ponds last month....brought my pellet gun out, cuz I didn't have any 22 ammo. The pellet gun was useless, but the gig worked well. I need to do that, though.
