New Bow
« on: July 28, 2007, 07:21:37 PM »
Well, seeing as I am apparently made of money(if only, if only ;D), I lifted an old bow off of a friend, and frankly, I hate it. >:( It scares the poop out of me. You shoot it and all you hear is "whachunk!" like a cannon going off or something. Then you look over and your arrow has gone through the hay bale(lenghtwise!!!!!!!!!) You never even see the arrow - its just "whachunk" and the arrow is no longer there. It scares me......I like being able to see my arrow as it flies and feel that my bow is not more of a possible harm to me :buck2 than the deer! I think I need an armguard before I shoot this spooky puppy any more! Beware the power of the compound bow!BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a few more bales of hay, so my arrows wouldn't keep loosing themselves in the woods. Now that I can see where the arrow penetrate the first bale I am amazed. I got a few carbon arrows to go with the bow and found my arm guard and did some real shooting. I was hitting 5'' groups at 20 yards. Thats with 12 shots worth of practice. I can only imagine what I will be able to do in September after practicing 45 mins a day! We are getting along a bit better now....something is gunna die!

hey dude did ya take the bow to a pro shop and have it fitted to ya if not that will help.what kinda bow is it the sims limb saver stuff will help quite it down.If the arrows are not hitting the target straight it needs to be tuned you will loose alot of kinetic engery and penetration and when it's tuned it will quite it down some.if you shoot with your elbow slightly bent or unlocked and hold the bow loosely at the grip not a death grip and the draw length not to long for ya it should stop ya from hitting your arm they make and arm guard thats kinda like a sleeve and works great over heavy hunting clothes or arms and won't be so hard and bulky like most arm guards you will forget it's there.Sounds like your coming along pretty good keep up the practice deer season is just around the corner. O0
you can run but you will only leave a blood trail

Yeah, I got it tuned the day I got it and it has limb-savers. The arrows penetrate the hay perfectly straight even from 10 yards(I attribute that to a magical rest known as the "whisker biscuit"-I love that thing).
