if the bow is tuned properly you really don't need alot of fletching but with broad heads  I person like a 4 or 5 inch feather or spin tight vane.
you can run but you will only leave a blood trail

bearman.. that isn't true. I shoot 2" Blazers on all of my hunting arrows. It does allow for a lighter arrow which in turn does equal more speed, but the Blazers were designed to have the stabilizing ability of a 4" vane, spin the arrow faster and to lighten up the arrow. Also, because of less surface area, it makes for less planing, which of course, in turn means tighter groups and a lighter arrow.

So the squirrelman says they are good. It seemed odd to me that if they are for light arrows why does bass pro offer them on their double-layer for "extra mass and penetration" arrows. Tighter groups sound good to me, and my bows nock is so close to the rest 4' vanes are a hassle to get in the whisker biscuit.

Tenderfoot.. give the Blazers a try through your biscuit. You will never shoot another vane. The Blazers and the WB were made for eachother!!! ;)

Same here. O0  I switched from 4" Duravanes to the 2" Blazers and I use a Whisker Biscuit.  My Carbon Express arrows now hit about 1.50" higher, at 30 yards, than the 4" Duravanes.

Thats awsome results, Mad. I shall try those. That sounds like something worth trying. Thank you for your help, guys. That's just what I needed to know.

I am ordering my arrows today, but Bass pro has another sale-priced item. So now my choice is to get a dozen arrows with 4'' vanes at +-.003'' or 2'' vanes at +-.005'' for 5$ more. Do the short vanes make up for the lack of straightness and are they worth 5$ more? Or should I just go with the conventional length vanes and save 5 bucks(I mean shoot 5 more bucks )?

Tenderfoot,

Forget everything you just mentioned, and just buy these arrows...

You will not be disappointed.  O0
