Cleaning Duck Calls?
« on: August 30, 2007, 07:17:31 PM »
Last season I was unable to duck hunt… so I leant a friend my lanyard of duck calls to use on his hunts… yeah, I know, what a dumb sh*t!

So anyway, I get them back and low and behold, they are covered in mud and stuff!  :tickedoff

What’s the best way to clean them?

A friend who hunts in Utah said he puts his in the dishwasher.  :idiot2

Any suggestions?

spray on tire cleaner, the kind ya dont wipe off. coat the reed with wax to prevent sticking. you could boil em, too if you are worried about bacteria.

I wouldn't recommend boiling your calls,
Just wash them with soap and hot water. To dry them, take them apart but don't remove the reed or reeds. Slide a dollar bull between the reeds and the wedge to dry them.
If you boil your calls the intense heat will most likely deform them and distort the sound.

....and stop lending your calls !
