What's yall's setup for this season?
« on: August 31, 2007, 04:00:26 PM »
Here's mine:
-Homemade bow
-Split parallel bamboo limbs
-Hand-fordged 100% sandstone riser
-Pre-stretched cat gut string
-Pine resin intergated in the design for less friction (cuz we all know, less friction=a faster, quieter bow)
-drop-away rest made from a crow's foot that I hit with my wife's car
-Hand carved oak 350 grain arrows
-Turkey buzzard vane feathers
-100 grain broadheads made from flint, alligator gar teeth, and rusty nails
(so I can track game down that I wound due to tetanus)
-Field mice string dampeners
-150# draw w/99.998% letoff

This setup is quieter than a gnat farting in a goose down pillow. Don't hate....

Machete and snares.

My bow has been giving me so much trouble lately I can barely get one thing right without another going wrong. I haven't been able to shoot more than 10 arrows a day for a month now. It makes me so angry, besides I have no doubt I could jump a deer with a machete. If I had had a machete in my stand last year I would have had 2 deer instead of none!

first it was arrows....45# aluminum for a recurve is not a suitable spine for a 60# compound.... I bought new arrows, then i had to get the arrows cut(that wasn't as easy as it sounds...long story). Then I had to glue the servings in.....3 glue tries later and one finally sticks. My hay target was inadequate and it shredded the fletching on 3 of my 6 cut arrows. re-fletch arrows, get new target. nock point slips, arrow fires way up, sticks into tree....and I was shooting 150 grain feild tips and I will use 100 broadheads. so I go to walmart for more feildtips....I didn't have me ID, so I couldn't buy them(I've bought flippin razor-tipped ones before, no problem).  etc etc. and now my knock points keep slipping resulting in 3 arrows being lost....oh, my release also busted mid-draw and lost another arrow of mine. I now have 2 cut arrows. It angers me....the archery gods frown on me this year.
