Rail Snipe and Woodcock
« on: September 09, 2007, 11:36:36 AM »
Anybody hunt any of these "elusive" critters. You don't hear much about snipe hunting(well, besides the usual boy-scouts prank) or rail. I was thinking about trying this form of hunting out. Anybody got any tips/info? I was particularly interested in rail and moorhen(the latter of which I tried hunting this morning to no avail-those critters will stand there ground like pit bulls, you couldn't flush one from a patch of cat-tails to save your life). Thanks for your help, guys. :)

We used to have a large enough population of snipe to hunt here, but modern farming methods has just about wiped our our birds. I saw a brood pair last spring, the last birds I have seen this year.  :'(
