I think the operative word here is BIG !! The knife she started with looked like a 4 inch or so blade. The one that did the trick was closer to 10 inch. I doubt that 4 inch knife even made it all the way thru the sheild on that brute.
I agree.  O0
Actually, BBF, I've found that using a knife to kill the hog is quite swift and humane. The knife is generally used to punture the heart or sever the jugular, causing a quick death. I wouldn't do it, but only because I prefer the idea of having a chunk of firepower in my arms instead of a pig-sticker when it comes to a critter as potentially dangerous as a hog. O0
Yes on that. too! They poked around on the hog with a lousy too small knife and finally got a decent knife from the guy that was along, like BC said. Dang right, I would perfer lots of good firepower, too. A pig sticking gone wrong could have some scary results.  Some days the hunter wins, sometimes the game wins.

Length is important to be sure. 6-8 inches is normally good enough.....

Anything smaller than that is usually not going to satisfy.......

I'm talking about blade length here :crazy2

Mine of course is considerably larger and of course I know where to put it.
To you gutless cowards and scumbags, who are trying to lie and rewrite history. To those out to commit genocide on the Southern people with your destruction of Confederate monuments and your attacks on Southern heritage and pride. Be happy for now. Because someday when that civil war you wanted starts. I will find you. And I will kill you.

The "sporting" thing to do would to be to go in there bare-handed and fight it out to the death. O0  I'm not that much of a sportsman though.  I cheat. O0

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

Yeah, I can see you cheating with your three of a kind 4's while pitting yourself against a walking porkchop. O0

I've taken several with knives, and placement with a knife is no different than placement with a gun or bow.

Here's the problem for many first time pig stickers though.

It's easy to sit around and talk trash about how you're going to do this and that.....BUT....When the time comes to actually put a knife into living flesh, some folks realize it's not exactly clean and or neat.

I like my KA-BARs and they've served me well, but regardless of blade you have to get close and you have to get messy.

I've used my KA-BAR, too for hogs. I decided that not my thing. Too up close and personal. I rather put a Magnus Stinger in them. O0
