Count me in on the deer contest, and my daughter too. All together, I am going for at least 3 does and a 4 point and a 6 point. But with the sign  I have found something bigger might turn up!!!!!!!!!!!  :twisted:

What happens if I kill something bigger than I called? Will it be worth some bonus points. I mean, I don't hav etrail cameras, so who knows what might walk out at my stand.

On the deer contest, if you don't get EXACTLY what you call, then it's minus points. :twisted:

  • There will be 3 person teams
  • Each person on the team will "call the shot"
  • All of the numbers for stuff has to be called in advance
  • Pictures are required of the animal and the hunter (in the same picture of course)
         * Does
            * Number of does and/or button bucks each person will harvest in 2 categories:
               * Number of fawns (5-6 month old) that they will harvest
               * Number of adult does
         * Antlered Bucks
            * Number of bucks with antlers each person will harvest
            * Number of points 1" or longer on the antlers of each buck
  • "Shots" must be called by 10/5/07
  • For each "shot" that is called correctly, the team will receive 10 points for does and button bucks and 20 points for antlered bucks
  • For each incorrect "shot"
         * Does and button bucks
            * Incorrect number called - Minus 20 points
            * Incorrect age called - Minus 10 points
         * Antlered bucks
            * Incorrect number called - Minus 20 points
            * Incorrect number of points called
               * Minus 10 points for each 1" point under what was called
               * Minus 5 points for each 1" point over what was called
  • Contest will run from 10/6/07 to the end of everyone's deer season
  • In the event of a tie, the winners will be decided by the team that has harvested the most deer total

Here's an example.  I called 2 adult does and an 8 pt buck.  If I get 1 adult doe, I get 10 points.  But if I get a fawn (6 month old), I get -10 pt.  For the buck, since I called an 8 pt, if that's what I get, then I'll get 20 pt.  If I happen to get a 9 pt though, I'll get -5 pts.  If it turns out that I shoot a 6 pt, then it would be -20 pts (minus 10 pt for each 1" point under what was called).

Clear as mud now? ???

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.

I'll just sign in on the squirrel nad contest. Now how is that gonna be scored? Length layed on his back, amount of sag when held upright? Green score or do we have to wait the 60 days, then we can make truck mirror ornaments out of them? Diameter after flattened with a hammer?

What's the scoop?

Good questions.  We'll use the green score.  After green scoring them, you can do what you want with the item. :roll:  I tested it this weekend to see "how" it would be done.  About the easiest measurement that I could come up with was to measure from the penis sheath down toward the tail to the tip of the sack. O0  When I get home I'll post a picture of how to measure them. O0 ;D
