$ increases-what gives?
« on: February 22, 2008, 09:50:27 PM »
Walked into Wal-Mart tonight. Tried to pick up my usual case of Win. 8# which should run about $15. 98 It was 20.89! And the individual boxes of the same stuff also went up like a dollar and a half from what I bought last time I stocked up. I was talkin to a hard-core rifle man and he said "BUY AMMO-NOW!" Said everything was going way up in price. So, can anybody explain why shells and cartridges are going up? Saltpeter shortage, lead prices, gas prices?

Rise in minimum wage. From $5.85 to $7.25 next year.

Cost of lead went from next to nothin to big money. I was happy to buy my normal ammo for only $2 more a box... but I was in such a hurry I bought 16ga instead of 12... ???

Tech has got a point.  This is an old topic on here.  Last summer it started going up and has been steadily increasing since then.  If you haven't already, you need to stock up. O0

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

Too late. If I had found out about this like a month ago I would have had a chance to stock up, but prices have already risen. Will it continue? Sorry for being so out of the loop-I was hunting!

Don't give the excuse of you hunting, man. ;D  That's pretty lame.  We've been talking about ammo costs going up since probably May-June of last year.  You just weren't paying attention. O0

Yes, the prices will continue to go up, thus the reason I said to stock up if you haven't already. O0

  Speaking of price, a bit off the topic, on Friday the price of regular went to 1.189 cents a liter. Doing the math and not applying any currency exchange, it comes to $  4.50 a US gallon >:(

Stinks for you...our prices rose about 30 cents to 3.09. I'm pretty sure once gas prices hit 4$ I'm gunna get me a nice geared bike or a diesel engine and burn veg. oil. The only thing thats gunna get me to buy gas at that price is hunting trips.

China has been buying up the non iron ( non-ferrous) metals and has been driving up the prices.
