Hey, my name is Tyler and I live in eastern Washington. I hunt white tail and birds every year. Not much upland birds more waterfowl. Last year I went to Wyoming and shot my first mule deer. This year I want to start hunting rabbits and any tips on hunting them would be cool.

Welcome Tyler ;D. Use a dog if possible, it takes a lot of the leg work out of it, as soon as you spook a rabbit let the dog run it down while you remain where it was, see rabbits are real territorial and wont cross each others boundaries unless they are forced to. Instead they run in a giant circle and come right back where they started from making it real easy on us to shoot them. If you don't have a dog the same goes if you are just walking, except you would walk a few steps, stop for a min or two and then walk a few steps more. This makes the rabbit think you spotted it and it will bolt, and sometimes it's right next to you feet and you don't even see it. If you don't get it then just remember the spot and hit it on the way back out you'll get it then :knuppel2.

Good Luck O0 and tell us all some stories about your previous hunts, or share some tips with us as well.

Thanks for the tip. I don't got many stories about deer hunting, not real exciting anyway. But dove hunting here can get pretty crazy. Just a massacre, and we put them all in a pile and it gets pretty big when all of us limit out and there is about 6 or 7 of us opening day usually. Last night i went coyote, didn't get one but saw a dead cow elk with coyote crap everywhere around it. Kind of made me mad we weren't there a couple weeks earlier.

Welcome to the Pile. I never hunted rabbit over dogs, but what Meat says about walking them up is spot on. It's a real adrinalin rush to have that bunny bust from between your feet, then try to maintain your cool to cap him before he's out of range.

Hey Tyler. After reading a couple of your posts, I can tell you'll fit in well here. I'm in Utah so we may have to hit some bunnies, yotes, whatever one of these days. I'm real keen on getting me a wolf or three but have to wait for the legal mess to clear up in WY. Wish I'da had the time & resources to do it before the poop hit the fan. :knuppel2

Welcome to the Pile Tyler !!!!  These guys can definitely fix you up with some bunny tips.  (Their shooting is a little suspect, from what I hear...........but that's another story)
