Or is it a decomposing boar?
« on: August 13, 2008, 05:32:15 PM »
We're looking for expert opinion on the "montauk monster" There are several theories on what this creature really is (most moronic). I signed up on gut pile specifically for this question, so any ideas? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:RhodeislandMonster.jpg

It could be almost anything. Lacking anything else in the pic to use for scale, the field is wide open. It would take a much closer exam to draw a conclusion.
Once I saw a dead dog floating down river in the Missouri. It had been there a while, was hairless, bloated and likewise looked a bit distorted. Took me a while to figure out it was a dog. Actually it didn't look too different from this, so called "monster".

I agree with MO, it looks like a rotting dog more than anything, also someone could have doctored that pic as well. Oh and by the way welcome to the PILE :)

Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians - except for the occasional mountain lion steak.

Oh I saw this on T.V. and they had different "experts" analyze these photos and it was concluded that it was in fact a dead, rotting, water logged and bloated K-9.  I saw the show awhile ago and I cannot now remember what the details of their findings were or what they said about the supposed "beak."
But after they lay the facts out alongside the picture I remember I agreed with their findings.

That thing is kinda cute though...In an Amy Winehouse kinda way :buck2

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

Dang noname. ??? First you say you'd be intimate with Amy Winehouse, only to turn around and compare her to the dead & rotting corpse of a dog. What does that say about you?

I think that says that I'd totally hit that dog corpse.
