Wish I could help you Jenny.  I've heard that the big old boars rank right up there with licking the hind-end of a skunk.  I think that a lot of it may also have to do with "what" they're eating though.  Worst case is that you end up with a lot of sausage, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe someone else that's messed with wild hogs can help you.  Plott deals a little with hogs, so he may be able to tell you about the taste. O0

In all seriousness, the Marlin is a great rifle, too. I own a Model 60, one of the best rifles ever made.
Brownings are nice, but in terms of quality AND accuarcy AND ruggedness, it's hard to beat the Marlin.
California sucks that's it.

dont let them fool ya a big ol boar will smell and taste like crap Has alot to do with the testastrone in them. So to remedy that hunt with dogs so ya can stick a big ol boar and put him on the wall and the meat in the dogs then stick a big sow fer yer freezer  O0 O0
It takes patience to break a good hound. Ya gotta be persistent and it helps to be a lil smarter then the dog.

You got to stay below 100lb if you want to eat the porkers preferably less.

There are some places that are fenced and they have castrated boars, that would be a different scenario.
