First deer taken
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:43:38 PM »
Not by me, work has had me swamped. But I put a friend up in one of my stands and his first night in he shot a nice doe. 17 yards...75# longbow passthrough both lungs and some heart. She ran 20 yards (tops) and crumpled. I think I placed it in the right spot this year. ;D I don't care who shot the thing..me or him-it means I know something. Soon as I get a dehydrator I'll be able to process my meat a lot faster and be able to take in more meat. Now I need to make the time to satiate my obsession.

Good going Tender! The boy had them within 15 yards but could not shoot thru the brush. Had one myself but at 70 yards. I love putting someone on a deer and they take it as much as I like taking them myself! My boy has taken twice as many as I have in the last few years just because I put him in the stands that I know will produce. When he dont sit in them, I go and get one then!

I hate those bushes. >:( While I've shot arrows straight through bushes while practicing, I've also had other ones throw my arrows 30 degrees off target. They are evil I tell you. Sounds like you'll be laying into them (deer) soon enough.

I owed this guy. He's done so much more for me. Besides, I knew the bucks wouldn't be around yet:wink:

Are the pics of your doe up yet? I finally got a chance to sit on some deer this weekend. I saw a fawn, doe, and spike follow a trail about 100 yards off. My stands are set up for morning hunting when they come off the beds, but I could only make it up in the afternoon. I'll be getting one soon enough now that all my duck, squirrel deer and bream from last year has been used up.
